the bride of frankinstein & mary shellys frankinstein

what about the film makes it fit within the horror genre? could we argue for it to fit into another genre?
This film is in the horror genre because of the music and the time that it was made. In 1935 there was the depression so they had to cut down and do one genre between each studio universal studios chose to do horror and Frankenstein was the begining of the franchise and was followed the bride of Frankenstein we can tell they are horrors due to the camera angles as well in modern day it is seemed to be a bit comical but in the 1930s it would have been deadly serious. There are social and technological links to the film for example Frankenstein is the outsider and considered a freak to the people of the outside world for example the only friend he has is an old blind man who is the only one that listens to him and trys to teach him about friendship as the extract shows people in the 1930s would have seen this film as a horror and be quite scared of it but today there are some funny elements .the benefit of a genre tells the audience what to expect from the film the genre helps the producer and the audience because they know what to expect but as the people loose interest the genre has to be tweaked in order to grab the audience and producers use this to great effect

the modern day Frankenstein was made in 1994 and directed by Kenneth branagh the franchise changed the film and made it more scary to meet the demands of the viewers the differance between the two films is that Mary Shelly's Frankinstein has the whole story of the creation and the bride where as the earlier film split the two stories in to two Frankinstein and the bride of frankinstein and as we know both the early films were made on a low budget that is why they were not as good as mary shellys frankinstein where there a are loads of special effects and the monster looks real unlike in the bride of frankinstein where he looked more human as well as the special effects the cameras changed and became lighter so it was easier to get a better shot and had better angles to shoot from .Mary Shelly's Frankinstein fits into a range of different genres not just horror because there are action aspects such as pyrotechnics's and there is a lot more fighting as well as that dr victor frankinstein has changed alot compared with the first from bride of frankinstein he has gone from being a jittery person to this masculine animal .there are narrative aspects for example when the monster leaves the house all we see is a coat on the floor we dont physicly see him leave the house but we know he has where as in Bride of frankinstein we see every move the monster
